DDoS

DDoS stands for "Distributed Denial of Service". A DDoS attack is where an attacker causes a large number of computers over a wide geographic area to attack their victim. Unlike attacks from a small number of computers, a DDoS attack is very hard to stop. The victim cannot simply filter out the IP addresses of the attacker, as the attacks seem to be coming from virtually everywhere.
